Wild mushroom picking
Sierra de Guadarrama
Come autumn with the first rainfall, wild mushrooms begin to pop up across the Spanish countryside. On this wild mushroom picking excursion, we will be on the lookout to find and pick two typical mountain species: Boletus and milk-caps.
We will learn about some of the area’s most significant species and the most environmentally-friendly way to pick them.
Mycology laws require that baskets made of wicker or similar material be used to allow the wild mushrooms and fungi to release their spores during picking.
Even though this area is rich in wild mushrooms, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to pick these species as nature is unpredictable and there are thousands of mushroom-picking enthusiasts in the Sierra de Guadarrama countryside.
