Iberian ibex photography

Winter is near and with it comes one of nature’s mightiest displays: the Iberian ibex in season.

During this Iberian ibex watching and photography activity, our aim will be to capture images of the various specimens inhabiting the mountains of Sierra de Guadarrama and, with any luck, their riveting fights. The first snowfall will set the scene for stunning photographs in a wintry landscape populated by the species’ large males.

We will be following a mountain trail approximately 3 km long for intermediate hikers to the area where herds of these wild goats gather.
After spotting them, we will keep an eye on them respectfully and without interfering, joining the group and taking pictures.
The chance to follow different herds around the area means we will be constantly on the move.

We recommend telephoto zoom lenses to photograph the wild goats up close, and a wide-angle lens to capture the stunning scenery.
Tripods are not necessary as we will be moving all the time and carrying extra weight will only slow us down and hamper the climb.

A photography guide will be joining us throughout the day to help us capture our desired images.
