Bird of prey hide “Aquila”
Our Bird of prey hide “Aquila” stands in the countryside of the village El Oso, in the Spanish province of Avila, in an area covered with pine forests and farmland.
Some of the background scenery is far away enough to photograph the subjects on their own at the forefront, and their natural perches stand at different distances affording various framing opportunities. Also, the surrounding pine forests will allow you to photograph raptors in flight.
Throughout the year, the species visiting our bird of prey hide include Spanish imperial eagles, common buzzards, red and black kites and western marsh harriers, but you can also expect to see other species such as cinereous vultures, griffon vultures, northern goshawks, common kestrels and Iberian grey shrikes.
The hide has room for 3 photographers, measuring 3 m by 2 m and 2.1 m tall. It is equipped with a large oneway glass window at the front, ensuring that the animals display their natural behaviour whilst photographers stay hidden and comfortable.
Located just 120 km from the city of Madrid, El Oso is a fantastic place to enjoy a weekend away doing a hide session (or several) and a host of other fascinating nature activities.
