Birdwatching in the El Oso lakes

Birding trail and visit to the Interpretation Centre

The village of El Oso in the Spanish province of Avila has received official recognition for its lakes and the area’s wealth of biodiversity. This activity is a chance to observe a broad variety of birdlife, including water birds and birds of prey, as well as steppe birds. Spanish imperial eagles, cranes, cinereous vultures, griffon vultures, red kites, western marsh harriers, hen harriers, bustards, shelducks, kestrels, lapwings and more.

We will set out on a trail around the lake to discover the surroundings and the birds that live there. We will also visit observation points from which to watch these birds in comfort, equipped with our optical gear.

After lunch*, we will head on to the Lagunas de la Moraña Interpretation Centre to learn more about the region in depth.
The centre has cameras set up at the lake which we will be able to operate in order to see the birds up-close in real time.

To round off the day, we will get the chance to watch the lake’s cranes swooping it at sunset, offering a truly unique sight.

*Lunch is not included. You can choose to have lunch in the village of El Oso or bring a packed lunch.
