Bird of prey hide “Victoria”
The Bird of prey hide “Victoria” stands in a farmland area outside the village of Madrigal de las Altas Torres, with a low-key position to snap shots at ground level. It also overlooks a pond when there is rainfall. The background is far away enough to photograph the subjects on their own at the forefront, and their natural perches stand at different distances affording various framing opportunities.
Over the year, different species visit this bird of prey hide, but the mightiest on the scene are the Spanish imperial eagle and the cinereous vulture. More frequent visitors include the common buzzard, red kite, black kite, western marsh harrier and griffon vulture, but we might also catch sight of species such as golden eagles, kestrels, peregrine falcons or honey buzzards, who also frequently swoop by.
This photography hide measures 7 m by 2.5 m and is 2 m tall. It is equipped with a large one-way glass window at the front, ensuring that the animals display their natural behaviour whilst photographers stay hidden and comfortable. It also has a chemical toilet and a large window at the side for evening sessions.
The hide has room for 4 photographers or 7 birdwatchers, making it perfect for group sessions.
It is located in the countryside of the village of Madrigal de las Altas Torres (Avila, Spain), just 150 km away from Madrid.

BIRDS
Spanish imperial eagle, cinereous vulture, griffon vulture, red kite, black kite, common buzzard, western marsh harrier, hen harrier, northern goshawk, golden eagle, common kestrel, lesser kestrel, honey buzzard, etc.
GENERAL RULES
To ensure a successful hide session and avoid disturbing local wildlife, there are a series of rules that must be followed to make the most of your experience.
SILENCE
We are dealing with wild species and it is important not to disturb them.
STAY INSIDE
You can only enter and leave the hide in the presence of your guide. Never step out without their express permission.
NO TOUCHING THE GLASS
Do not get too close to the glass and never tap or bang it to attract the animals’ attention or make them move.
DARK CLOTHING
Try to wear dark, plain clothes. Light or colourful clothing may be seen through the glass and could frighten the animals.
MOBILE PHONES
Keep your phone silent and use it as little as possible in the hide.
NO SMOKING
It is forbidden to smoke inside the hide. You may eat and drink inside, but try to make as little noise as possible.
